Compound-pulse-Wave-Generator

Programmable waveform transmission allows for intentional control of the amplitude, form and frequency of transmitted sound waves, independently of transducer characteristics. Ultrasound is transmitted with the pulse waveforms and frequency components suitable for individual purpose, thus resulting in higher quality images.

In the conventional burst transmission (using rectangular waves) the envelope of pulses is dependent upon transducer characteristics. While in programmable waveform transmission, the waveform (including envelope) of the desirable transmission signal is obtained by optimizing the waveform of the signal of the driving transducer elements.

This transmitter paves the way for a new approach to improve image quality, such as transmission of multiple frequency components or a high-frequency wave of small amplitude, deep penetration, and chirp transmission with short pulses.
